CHEW # 4
Written By: John Layman & Art By: Rob Guilory
I have been on board with
this title since the very beginning - and I have been loving it since
the very start. To me this is one of the most innovative and
creative comic books to come out in a very long time. The sad
part to this other wise perfect tale, is that due to a distribution
error of some sort...the copies of this title in singles has become
very hard to find.
The light at the end of the tunnel
for those of you out there that do what to “experience”
Chew, is the trade should be out on November 25th 09 if I am
correct. And it will be priced fairly at $10.00 ! Not only
that but on the same day Chew #6 is scheduled for release and hopefully
those of you out there that have not been able to pick up the singles
can get it in an all in one then. John Layman and Rob Guillory
have knocked it out the park on this series ( shown below ) and they
have crafted one of my current favourite comics.
One would imagine that it
would be hard to come up with a another new and interesting spin in
this bizzare story after last months introduction to love and
regurgitation by our boy Tony Chu, as we were introduced to the lovely
and ever so charming Amelia...
In issue #4 we find
Applebee head of the FDA, fantasizing about the demise of one of
his newest agents Tony Chu. He imagines all the ways Tony could be
“offed.” a bullet to the head possibly, a couple of knives
in the back, all these scenarios make him smile, but he is turned off
by the propsect of having to do the obscene amount of paper work which
would be attached to any homicide case.
In this issue Agents Chu and Savoy are
investigating the death of a prominet senetor, who died under
mysterious or questionable circumstances. The book moves through
various time sequences, in order to tell the story in a new and
interesting way. I don’t want to give up any spoilers just
incase some of you out there are interested in picking up the trade
this November. Suffice to say, that this book is truly awesome in
every respect. Rob Guillory’s art is outstanding and the
marriage between the writing and art is a perfect one, they compliment
themselves quite well.
Peace,
